Sometimes sitting in a tractor seat for long periods of time gives a person way too much time to think about things. Things like the economy, unstable fuel prices, our continued intervention in Iraq and where we are in life and what it is relative to. So, where do we play a role in this big drama scene? I recently read an excerpt from Lee Iacocca’s book. His feelings seem to point toward the fact that this country is only a shell of what it used to be (It still looks like an egg but there is nothing inside). As I do some soul searching of myself, I feel pretty much the same way. We need a constitutionally well-informed American for president, no matter what party he or she represents!

Even as small farmers, our basic mission in life is to produce food or habitat for people or animals even if it is only for our immediate family. I think this contribution alone is substantial. We are helping sustain other beings and at the same time we learn and teach responsibility, practicality and how to be more self-sufficient. Farm people and their kids are survivors. We are usually close to the earth and appreciate so much more in life because we know how fragile it can be. We send this experience and knowledge on with our children so they may plant the same seed for their family’s future.

Thinking for our selves and being able to take care of our selves and others may be our best and most simple contribution to life.
